Meetings Director
Maria Stevens - gozmaria@yahoo.com
Maria Stevens is the Finance Administrator for Panasonic San Jose Laboratory, an R&D group, and Panasonic Venture Group, a Strategic Investment group of Panasonic Corporation North America. She has a degree in Business Administration (Finance)at San Jose State University and is currently a graduate student at Golden Gate University. Prior to this position, Maria was contracting as an Accountant and Financial Analyst at various companies in the Bay Area.
For
someone who grew up in a small farm town in the Philippines where children are encouraged to go to work than to school, Maria took a while to realize that getting a degree was an option for her when she came to the U.S. Like a typical immigrant, Maria worked 2 to 3 jobs in her early years in the U.S. until she decided to enroll at a community college. She kept just one full-time job during the day and took classes at night. It was daunting years of study while keeping work as priority but she finally got her
bachelors degree. Now, Maria is continuing her education as she is determined to reach the next level of her career. Maria joined the board as a Treasurer hoping to retain her skill and to deepen her involvement with the IMA. Juggling between work, graduate school, and family, she hopes that she will soon have time to review for the CMA certification.
One of her favorite quotes:
"Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price
we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal." (Vincent Lombardi)
